Georgia Governor’s Race

Full disclosure: I was a supporter of Eric Johnson for governor, and then Deal when it came down to the runoff between he and Karen Handel.  I didn’t have confidence that Handel was a true conservative, and rather than spending her ad time discussing her platform and convincing Republicans that she is a conservative, she spent time making accusations against Deal. Deal didn’t do a whole lot better, but his slams seemed to focus more on Handel’s politics than other matters. What I really got a kick out of, though, was the contrast in Handel’s view of Deal in a mere 24 hour period. Because on Monday, she called Deal a “corrupt relic of Washington”, but today, when she conceded to Deal she endorsed him as the GOP nominee for governor. While expected, it’s just so terribly hypocritical. How can she endorse someone if she truly believes he is “corrupt”?
